Clinical Placements

Student Practice Education, referred to as clinical placement, in British Columbia occurs in multiple health authorities. Before placement can begin in any health authority, preparation, orientation, and requirements must be fulfilled.

The Ministry of Health works with BC's Health Authorities to provide quality, appropriate, and timely health services to British Columbians.

The Ministry sets province-wide goals, standards, and performance agreements for health service delivery through the Health Authorities. Midwifery students are not always mentioned in the student practice guidelines and on health authority materials, but their requirements are applied to all students entering clinical placement.
