Term Dates

The IEMBP is offered twice a year in October and January. It runs for a minimum of 9 months and is delivered in 3 terms. Students must successfully complete each term before progressing to the next. While start dates may vary slightly each year, the exact dates will be confirmed in the Letter of Acceptance (LOA).

  • can be completed anywhere in the world with high-speed internet and a computer 

  • approximately 10-20 hours of self-study required each week

Term 2: 

Clinical Skills Training

  • daily lectures, discussions, workshops, simulations, and certification courses
  • class times vary depending on the subjects of the day; occasional weekend sessions may be required 
  • 1 week of observational clinical placement 
  • final written examination and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs)

Clinical Practicum

  • student can be placed at a midwifery clinic anywhere in the province with a Registered Midwife preceptor 
  • depending on performance in the placement, an extension or repeat may be required, subject to preceptor availability

 

Depending on the cohort, IEMBP graduates can write the Canadian Midwifery Registration Examination (CMRE)↗ in May or October of their graduation year.
